Wu Guangkui mountain song 1
恐叫一声哥
Wu Guangkui sings a mountain song (shan'ge 山歌) in the personal style that he used for all the songs he sang. His songs tended to be punctuated by short, staccato phrases, in which he seemed to almost break into recitation of the phrases, rather than singing. This style contrasts with the long sustained notes characteristic of Zhu Congde's personal style of singing. Wu and Zhu maintained that the "flavor" of an individual's singing (and thus the singer's identity) could be heard across long distances. Like Zhu Congde, Wu Guangkui was known as a good singer who could remember many songs. In addition to shan'ge, Wu knew many stories and tunes from Sichuan opera, which before Liberation used to be performed locally during temple festivals.
